About The Artwork

Mixed-media: Analogue and Digital - On Fuji Crystal Archive Silk All artworks are signed by the artist with a certificate of authenticity. 'MANDALA Yin' The artist created 'Mandala' using film negatives she shot from five different human body poses. Gradually moved from fetal pose to rising sun pose, she composed and combined them digitally to create a Mandala made from human bodies. Inspired by sand mandala that is ritualistically dismantled once it has been completed, the artist brought one single image out of the final circle to create imperfection in order to underly the message that "nothing is perfect”. The line between the start and the end, symbolising Buddhist belief in the transitory nature of material life. There are two versions of this artwork, Yin and Yang, that was originally designed to hang together side by side.

Multi-media artist Negin Vaziri was born in Iran in 1976 and moved to Italy in 1999. She attended the University of Cinema and Theatre of Tehran and started her career as a set designer. After the last theatre show which she was part of, has been shut down due to censorship, she has decided to move to Italy and attended the Venice Academy of Fine Arts. Her dual experience in dramatic and visual arts is reflected in her multidisciplinary performance art and installations. Negin’s artwork provokes the taboos, a seeker of the prohibited beauty, Negin believes that the only way to free the world from the chains is to break the wall and built it again by bringing public attention to the beauty. Using Analogue photography as her main visual medium, Negin’s creative expression enjoys crossing the boundaries between traditional photography, mixed media, sculpture, installation, and film. Negin has exhibited in galleries, contemporary museums, art biennale and during prestigious events in Venice, London, Strasbourg, Geneve, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Her works are part of private collections internationally. She has received awards and honorary mentions at Venice Film Festival 2010; Woman Voices Now Film Festival 2011, Los Angeles; Siamak Pourzand Foundation for Democracy, Washington 2014; International Photography Competition, Venice 2002; Photography Storytelling at Ca’ Foscari University, Venice 2003; International Art Exhibition by Arte Communication, Berengo Fine Arts Foundation and Venice's Art League 2004. She has been art curator of three consecutive collective and solo exhibitions during the 56th, 57th, and 58th Venice Biennale. She is one of the curators of Cinematic Perspective and served as a member of the jury panel for the Venice Intercultural Film Festival 2020 and 2021.  Negin currently lives and works in London.
