From my liking for sculpture, when I was studying at the Beaux-Arts, I have probably kept a particular way of working with my stillife photography.

Ludovic Sarmento was born in France in 1979, in Pauillac, among the vineyards of the Médoc. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and then at the Faculty of Plastic Arts in that same city, he began a career as an Artistic Director in advertising. In parallel, he practices photography as a self-taught artist, in an already very personal style, far from that of the images produced in his advertising profession. Over the years, photography has become increasingly important in his life, to the point of becoming his main activity. After a detour by the photo report, that led him to meet albinos in Tanzania or refugees from the jungle of Calais, he focuses on the studio photo. Still life and portrait become his two favorite subjects. As for his nude photos, they are crossed, like the rest of his images, by a singular strangeness and an absence of concessions to any kind of dictation of beauty that makes them special and strong.
