The work of André Muehling has been a long running photographic project concentrating on the subject of landscape. With a specitic 4x5 inch large-format camera he creates circular images , attempting to match the visual scope of the human eye. The use of perspective and the eye-like image circle make the viewer immediately delve into the scene, and one is literally drawn into the picture to become part of it. THE MUNICH LANDSCAPES SERIES did not remain untouched by the things that unsettled the world in 2020. Due to the special situation of the lockdown, Munich seemed to be deserted, often apocalyptic. Blank streets and squares, monuments commemorating in solitude suggested gloom and doom, yet offering unlikely moments of tranquillity, allowing us to pause and perceive the surroundings in all their beauty and poetry. This classic analogue approach in combination with fine art printing technique allows awe-inspiring results, rich in detail, acuity and depth. The archival Giclée pigment prints on Hahnemuehle Paper are laminated behind cratch-resistant high gloss acrylic glass and stabilised on a Alu-Dibond backing. The lamination behind acrylic glass gives the image exceptional plasticity, brilliant depth, and contrast, protects it from dust and impurities. Each photo has an aluminium profile frame on the back so it can be mounted on the wall immediately.
