Ships in a Tube
Growing up I never had the experience of using a train due to the fact that the railway system in my country was not fully functional. I always looked forward to being in a fully locomotive train and appreciating the scenery of trees, flowers and birds on the journey. A train route was commissioned and became fully operational between Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta from 2020. However, I only just recently had the opportunity to ride it. This photo was taken with the enthusiasm of a young lady taking a train ride for the very first time. I sought to capture the encompassing size of the train and the brilliant perspective landscape as the train halted in the station to onboard the passengers.

I go by the name Janet Adegoke. I am an emerging female artist based in Nigeria. I work with acrylic and wool on canvas. My pieces address societal issues affecting women. I raise awareness on injustice and unhealthy socio-cultural practices against them. The themes of my discourse are sensitive, so I lay them bare for engagement. I am also a budding documentary photographer capturing sights and sounds around me that resonate with my creative spirit.
