Dreamy shades of pink and gold pour over cold, dark metal - illustrating the saccharine filter through which Narcissus wishes to be perceived. This statue is easily the most succinct rendition of Narcissus I've seen thus far. Here, he is shown long before Nemesis enticed him to the water’s edge, where he will be devoured by self-delusion. Narcissus' head is turned downward, in guileless self-pity. If the eyes are the window's of the soul, then access is withheld by this creature whose only wish is to be regarded through his rituals of exhibitionism. In this artwork, we see Narcissus pretending to be a victim, his finger pointed at the sun and anyone foolhardy enough to stand by his side. He is deliberately turning away from the light and giving his mind to darkness. This work is signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity.
