Orange bleue Photograph - Limited Edition of 1

The unofficial title l’Orange bleue (Blue Orange) is an homage to the surrealist poem by Paul Éluard. The orange is an object whose color is its name. That orange itself is a bit freakish, surreal, in the fact of its two separate textures. It is a photograph, although the perspective is flatten, giving it a naïve impression. It seems to betray its own medium, looking closer to an illustration than a photograph. The Limited Edition prints have a discreet embossed seal of my name in the front. I have them printed as inkjets by the best gallery quality printer in Toronto. For this particular print, I choose the Epson Hot Press Bright paper; it's acid free, 100% cotton rag, but it's mostly for its smooth rich mat surface, rendering it closer to an illustration than a photograph. n.b.: 20030803_smilla_20x20.jpg
