Jade is a Critical Art Writer, Art Historian, Creative Art Photographer and Teacher of contextual understanding in Contemporary Art 1950-Present. A Graduate of Art History and Theory from the University of Essex and continuing her studies at Plymouth University. She centers her contemporary art on her own "Kin-AESTHETIC process" of photography; believing in the arts value emanating from the psycho-physicality of being behind the camera, whilst also privileging a photo-conceptualist approach, brazenly forcing a quest for context through her enigmatic titles of her work; with an eye for figuration and portraiture, although using many different mediums to distort a static realism. Jade describes, analysis, manipulates & distorts using a chiaroscuro style; physically creating the hyper-real subject which we subliminally decipher through cultural signification, which is a preferable cognitive process to us as human beings; suspending reality. Provoking feelings of introspection, hyper-hysteria, humour, irony & starkness. An essence of Simulacrum. Photography is quoting light, however creating an image or heightening its themes create a voice for the image, expressing a thought or feeling; the aroma or flavor of a feeling- living onomatopoeia. By creating a hyper reality, a simulacra of reality, "conventional reality" becomes void of meaning and interest- (distancing) Do you watch simulated versions of reality in soaps each night? Art does the same thing for us. Through the media in post modernity, we have been conditioned this way. By creating these images as an alternative reality, Jade provides the audience with questions about our role and mind set within our situation in the world, how we engage with other people, our overlooked experiences and superficial reflections .What kind of reality do you choose to live in; in postmodern times? Is there such thing as a balance? Is our prolific visual world a product of a matrix of mysterious artistic minds offering endless alternatives to true existence or is it a conscious, abhorrent attempt to make our choices for us? It's yours, you decide. Jades' influences stem from Robert Mapplethorpe, Edward Hopper, Ralph Meatyard, Maya Deren, Barbera Kruger, Sherrie Levine, Gavin Turk, Paul McCarthy, Olivier Sagazan, Tracy Emin, Diane Arbus, Dorothea Lange, Roland Barthes, Sol Lewitt, Lucy Lippard and Marcel Duchamp.
