ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The earth is an incredible artist. On a daily basis, wind, tide, currents and sand congregate to paint a detailed and fleeting illustration that can only be appreciated from the air. All of my work is captured from light aircraft. This allows me to explore and connect with the world some 2000ft below. A connection that I have yet to experience visualising the world through the disconnect of a drone. This image was captured over the expansive and incredibly Shark Bay World Heritage region close to the dolphin-friendly shores of Monkey Mia, Western Australia. Fine Art & Canvas prints are printed on selected archival media to complement each image. Prints are shipped unframed. Printing & Media: This image is printed with pigment inks on Archival quality Canson Fine Art Paper with a 2-inch border all around. All prints are produced by the artist in his personal studio in Vasse, Western Australia. Also available as museum grade Diasec Acrylic Mount prints or on Archival Canson Canvas. Please enquire. From the collection/series: 'Portraits of Tide’. Available in 4 sizes: 14.8 x 11.8 inches (37.5 x 30cm) Special Edition of 100 25 x 20 inches (63 x 50.5cm) Edition of 15 + 2 AP 37.5 x 30 inches (95 x 76cm) Edition of 20 + 2 AP 50 x 40 inches (126.5 x 101cm) Edition of 10 + 1 AP Limited Editions are signed front and back and include a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Ty’s fine art images embody an interplay of time and texture, focus and foundation — a search for what is often left unseen, unappreciated and uncommon. Views from aloft, compositions of time, and renditions to highlight the details that collectively compose the beauty that is all around us. His current projects communicate the contrasts between the rigid structure and influence of man, and the organic fluid forms and textures of nature. Born in Natal, South Africa, Ty became enamoured with the natural world from an early age. His enthusiasm for exploration, attention to detail and education in the sciences, ultimately led to a pursuit in photography where he is able to document the intricacies of the world that surrounds us. In 2018, Ty was awarded the AIPP WA Commercial Photographer of the Year, International Photography Awards (IPA) Winter Sports Winner, IPA Fine Art: Abstract Runner-up, Australian Photography Awards Landscape Finalist (x3), and was selected for the LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards. More recently he was selected as a Landscape Finalist for the Head On Photography Awards and was awarded the 2019 Prix de la Photographie Awards, Paris, Fine Art Photographer of the Year. Ty currently resides in Busselton, Western Australia with his amazing wife and three ‘spirited’ young children who are his inspiration, driving force and keep life real.
