About The Artwork
Inspired by the works of Edward Weston, Ruth Bernhard and Immogen Cunningham these works exemplify the natural placement of the pure feminine in one of the most gorgeous natural settings in the world Big Sur, California. The series was created as a "resurgence" of the balance, empowerment and beauty of a natural unsexualized and innocent feminine. The series is meant to provoke a sense of mystery and empathy for the feminine which is currently being raped in our culture. The Resurgence Series is limited in edition and created for collecting. Prints are handmade by Michelle Magdalena in the darkroom which is a traditional medium for the inspired works. This print is printed and matted by the artist and signed and editions with a stamp on the reverse. The Resurgence series is in an edition of 30, 13 editions are exclusive to an entire portfolio in a clam shell box. 17 images are open for individual sale in three sizes; 8x8, 19x19, 37x37 and 48x48 in Silver Gelatin.

Magdalena is both German and American, having grown up in California and the french border of the Black Forest. At age 17, Magdalena began a lifelong journey in photography which was inspired by her mother Birgit Maddox ( also a fine art photographer ). Magdalena's limited etherial and evocative photographs are collected amongst the works of the 20th century greats like Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Ruth Bernhardt and Irving Penn. Photographs are available in limited edition portfolios and archival silver gelatin and platinum prints and are personally crafted in the darkroom by the artist. Large productions like the series titled, MILK which she have been working on for over a decade have been exhibited at FotoLA. "I am a strong voice for the natural feminine and believe that the protection of the planet it our highest priority along with respecting cultures around the world. "
