ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work is part of a series of photographs, with a goal to create modern artworks from the natural world. The images were captured from helicopters (and in some cases from drones), representing the incredible and unique shapes and patterns of planet earth from above. This image is taken over the shallow tidal flats of Shark Bay, Western Australia. Years of incoming tides have pushed across this sandbar, creating a tree-like water course that appears to sway in rhythm with the tide.

I have been sketching, painting and photographing all my life, but in recent years I have dedicated my creativity exclusively to landscape and wildlife photography. Whenever I am shooting or editing, I employ all of my learnings as a classically trained fine artist. My photography work is often described as painterly or like fine art, which is a constant source of inspiration for me to keep pushing the boundaries of the medium. For me photography is so much more than taking a photograph. A good photo can capture emotion. It can draw the viewer into that world. It can challenge perceptions. For that and more, it’s a medium that I love more than any other. I live and work on the Gold Coast in Australia, but travel the world in search of unique artwork compositions of Mother Nature.
