Art Description

Photography: Digital, Black & White on Paper.

I took this photo on a training ground for the rail industry's workforce, in the Kansas City area.

As with every photo I take, I cropped and toned it for a foundation that would allow many versions of it to be created from it. Of course, the original was saved in case I decided to crop and tone a different way for an altogether different approach.

However, I knew this would become some sort of black and white work the moment I adjusted the wheels in my camera's view.

I did experiment with 20 to 60 versions of it - changing colors, applying filters, embedding additional images, digitally painting them and transforming them from a recognizable photograph into this altogether new work.

Still, I think you can imagine what I did . . .

Tying for 4th place in the Digital Representational category at the 2019 American Art Awards is "Roll On".
