This work was inspired bt Field Work across the country of India. It is part of my series of Sacred Trees in India. This is of a Sacred Bamboo Grove that is hidden in the bush in Odisha, India. I travelled in 17 States of India to photograph the practice of Venerating Trees and found that the practice protects Trees In India, as they are believed to be sacred. I have written a book about Sacred Trees in India as a result of years of research. These are very magical sites. I hope viewers will get a sense of mystery and calm from these photographs. I chose Photography as these are real sites.

As an environmental artist my focus has been on the natural environment for many decades. For the past 20 years I have focused on Trees, a subject I was drawn to for the magnitude of their environmental significance and their universal, pan-religious symbolic importance.I illuminate the natural world both physically and metaphorically. With light I paint a ‘portrait’ of the tree and capture a moment in a tree’s life.I have done this work in many countries around the world. Darkness is a part of vision - it can frame something without destroying it. Through framing the natural world with darkness the specificity of that world is revealed. I am the founder of an eco-arts collective, The Tree Veneration Society Inc.
