About The Artwork
I was inspired by the term 'jump over your shadow'. It's about hiding from yourself and breaking through that. Although most of the figure is in the shadow the part that we see, her gaze is very intense. I chose to print the image onto Alu-Dibond Butlerfinish as with this effect depending on which angle you look at the image it changes from matt to glowing. The experimentation with light in the image is carried through to the effect of the print.

Jessica Weber is a Northern Irish/German photographer based in Berlin. 2008 she completed her BA in fashion photography at the University of the Arts in London. Since then she has worked freelance, selling and publishing her work worldwide. Her work, mostly portraits, is photographed in the style of modern Pop-art, very bold colours or black and white with contrasting shadows. However the composition in her images often replicate that of a classic portrait painting. Culture, sociology, diversity and gender fluidity play a big part in her art.
