About The Artwork

Serbian villagers from Sumadija region in Serbia attend Blago Srbije - Sajam Sljiva (Serbian Treasure Plum Fair). The men wear the traditional 'sajkaca' or cap, and the 'gunj' or traditional embroidered jacket. Blue is common, but green denotes military service. The fair highlighted the regional production of plums and plum products such as fresh, prunes, prune cookies, jams and preserves, and Serbia's famous national drink, sljivovitsa. The fair also featured many traditional Balkan song and dance troops, including Serbians, Slovaks, and Slovenians among others. It was attended by visitors and press from Serbia and abroad.
