A native of Paris, Gilles Compain is a French photographer born. It is through his many trips abroad (especially in California) that his passion for design and modern mid-century architecture has become his inspiration and a learning to deepen his perception of space. He has been particulary influenced by some major American architects like Lautner, Neutra, Wright, Wexler and has developed his taste for bold contemporary architecture, in particular the graphic play of geometry, light and shadow, minimalist design and abstracted forms.  Stable and structuring, architecture is the driving force in his art. His vision provides to explore the playful nuances, unintended complexities and joyful visual surprises that buildings can create.
