While enjoying a martini in the late afternoon sun I observed the drink's shadow run down the table and up the wall. Controlling the light and background in the studio created the more graphic version of my afternoon observation. This image creates a multilayer observation; the strong contrast of the classic martini glass shape is followed a split second later by the discovery of the top view of the drink with the olive. The intent is to offer a unique view of a common object. Each viewpoint adds a layer of information that, by themselves, would appear mundane. Print is custom printed and signed by the artist. Bruce has over 40 years experience directing people, managing brands, creating visual stories through photography and digital filmmaking. He's tossed out more awards to conserve space than most photographers win. This site establishes his entry into fine art. A 12 year old boy discovered the family Kodak one day at his Grandmother's house and started pointing it at everything - or anything. After a quick twelve exposures he ran to the corner drug store for processing. That was a beginning. Every photographer knows the pleasure of frequent shutter clicks; age 12 or 50 it doesn't matter, once hooked you know you're a photographer. Nearly twenty advertising photographer years later – surprisingly similar to dog years – the need to simply take pictures morphed into communicating ideas, visual or written, still or moving; a well crafted thoughtful message wrapped in a beautifully compelling skin. Bruce has logged time at Hallmark Cards, Erickson Productions, Stone Soup Productions, Synthesis Creative, Torque, Ltd., and – currently – his own Oryx Creatives and DeBoerWorks Photographic Productions. He's been a business manager, marketing director, advertising account executive, writer, creative consultant, but most notably, a respected photographer and video Director. Over the years commercial clients have included Duke Health Systems, Audi, Harley Davidson, Healthy Choice, Anheuser-Busch, Crain’s Chicago Business, Shell Motor Club, Amoco, Couples Resorts Jamaica, MGM Las Vegas, Norwegian Cruise Lines, The Cliffs Properties, and Giro Sport Designs. Bruce headed a creative department at Hallmark Cards from '88-'92, then moved on to work with some of the best creative talent in the advertising industry. Most of his professional photography career has been based in North Carolina’s Triangle area but he’s also worked in Boston, Kansas City, and Chicago. Welcome to his adventure in fine art
