ABOUT THIS IMAGE: This image forms part of a photographic series which explores the pristine coastlines and enchanting Indian Ocean islands of Mozambique, a country found on the eastern shores of Africa. With an untouched coastline of over 1,535 miles of indescribable natural beauty, this little-known country has been called the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” Over the past decade, internationally renowned aerial photographer Jay Roode and her husband Jan have flown the length of Mozambique photographing the unspoiled wildernesses, and cultural heritage of this Indian Ocean paradise. Jay’s photography endeavours not just to document scenes but to capture the poetry and the art of nature, that soft flow of space and time as it passes beneath the wings of their specially modified aircraft.
