King George's Park, London, UK. October 2014. This elegant female mute swan landed on the park football pitch in Wandsworth, London. The game was abandoned. ⁠After running home to fetch my camera, I lay flat on the grass at the halfway line. It began to rain. Initially, I just watched her movements. Each time she spread her wings to shake the rain from her feathers it was preceded by a pattern of other behaviours. Once I became familiar with the patterns I pressed the shutter at just the right moment. You can see several droplets spraying from her wings.
