Tropea is a small town in the south of Italy, quietly overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Among the many things it's known for, one stands out in particular: the Tropea onion. It’s not just any onion, but an ingredient capable of transforming a simple dish of tuna and beans into an almost mystical experience. There’s an inherent beauty in the Tropea onion that goes beyond its taste. Its vibrant red color, the sheen of its surface, all seem to belong in a painting by an inspired artist. Over the centuries, many painters have tried to capture its essence. On a scorching July day, the sun was blazing as it illuminated my kitchen, and I watched one of these onions. The afternoon light slowly crept through its layers, highlighting the deep purple of its core. It was as if the onion was telling a silent story, a story of earth, sea, and sun. I took a photograph of that moment, hoping to capture at least a fraction of its beauty. The light dancing on its surface, the contrast between shadows and reflections, all come together in an image that I hope you will enjoy as much as I do. --- Printing Materials: Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper Pearl (285 g/m²) Printed with 3 cm white border. "ART is like a ROTTEN eggplant". I take pictures to express what I feel, not just what I see. Each image is a personal reimagining, a glimpse into something deeper—sometimes clear, often elusive. Inspiration comes from films, books, and the quiet spaces I pass through. Over the years, I’ve shaped a way of working that blends curiosity with simplicity, letting the subject transform into something uniquely my own. Whether it’s a familiar scene or a distant place, my photos are less about documenting and more about interpreting—an invitation to see through a different lens. If you’d like, take a look. Each image holds a piece of that world, reimagined.
