About The Artwork
Inspired by the song of the same name. It is part of a series which depicts Black dolls, representing the bodies of Black men and women who where victims of slavery and all its brutality. This work is timeless in the sense that not much has changed in the way Blacks are treated in this country. Slavery, lynchings, police aggression. This work was shot with a traditional 4x5 camera.
