About The Artwork
I was always drawn to sailing and freedom - perhaps because I was born by the sea in my native Brighton Beach in the south coast of England. With 2020 having been such an insane year with restrictions on travel and terrible drama, I sought a beautiful yacht to capture at full-sail in the golden light of the Californian coastline. I captured this beauty on a wintry Santa Monica day just before blue-hour, to give the buyer something gorgeous to inspire freedom in better and happier times for the new years ahead. I chose to print this on beautiful "Photo Satin Premium RC Paper 270gsm" - since I felt the vibrancy and natural reflections of the sunset on the water was captured in the way that I wished. If you look closely, you can see that I accidentally captured a breaching dolphin the lower right quadrant of the photo. :) I waited until the yacht was at full sail directly underneath the setting winter sun.

I am a British photojournalist called Sky; I started my photography career in 2014, when asked to shoot for over 7 weeks on the Caribbean island known as Montserrat. Whilst there, I developed my love of all things photojournalistic: the reportage side of photography, candid portraits and lifestyle photos. I covered a wide range of subjects depicting island life, including farmers, animals, family life and politicians - even the future president of the country :) Since then, I moved to Los Angeles where I regularly shoot for surgeons carrying out their work and a large range of private work for other internationally known companies and private clientele. I am a PASSIONATE traveller and photographer and have traveled to South East Asia over 30 times - once even "boat hitch hiking to Brazil".
