Surfer #8 was shot on film with a Holga, a cheap plastic toy camera which produces very unique images. The beauty of Holga photographs comes from the camera’s unpredictability and imperfections; the plastic lens and light leaks create a softness and mood to this image, shot in Pismo Beach, California. Number 1 of a limited series of 9, hand printed by the artist at 12x12 inches on 16x20 inch fine art paper, Signed and numbered on front. Regarding size: My work is hand printed at the size I feel best presents the subject matter. However, I am able to print many of the images at custom size if requested. If interested in a custom size, please contact the studio directly with your request. If available, we will promptly post the custom size to Saatchi for purchase.

Robert Tolchin is an artist who is as comfortable under the red glow of his darkroom safelight as he is in front of his computer monitor. A second generation photographer, classically trained in the photo program of Columbia College Chicago, Tolchin's work ranges from traditional, beautiful black and white figurative nudes to conceptual, digital images conceived in his imagination. Working from his studio north of Chicago he is available for fine art and portrait commissions.
