Symmetree - Patina Warm Mist - Limited Edition 2 of 25 Photograph

Between 2013 and 2016 Mark spent 3 years photographing The Badsell Oak. The tree sat for nearly 300 years in a farmed field adjacent to what was once a royal hunting lodge in rural Kent, England. Like many of Mark’s pieces the premise was to elevate the tree and embody it with a hero status. In the process Mark was particularly after unusual weather phenomena, looking for an interesting quality of light or atmospheric condition. The Symmetrees have been born out of an exploration of the architecture of the tree. Often they are made from multiple photographs taken at the same time but from different locations around the tree. It’s an approach that is a digital hand wave to the pioneering ideas of the Cubist movement.
