300 roosters-spartans lined up in three rows. Their power and rigid character are accentuated by grey concrete, they know what they are fighting for, their determination and orderlinessis enhanced by the figures' rhythm, aligned in one direction. Despite the topic's relevance one should not look for direct analogies to maneuvers at Ukrainian borders. The hindsight of this project stretches much further. The artist clearly demonstrates how in «battle», individuals arise from masses of identical roosters. As in everyday life, we need to fight for our identity. "«THE 300 SPARTANS» IS ONE OF 20 INSTALLATIONS READY FOR EXHIBITION IN THIS DIRECTION "THE ARTIST SPENT ABOUT A YEAR ON THIS PROJECT "2500 ROOSTERS WERE USED IN THE INSTALLATION "THE PROJECT INCLUDES 7 PHOTOGRAPHS, AS WELL AS A SHORT 5-MINUTE FILM WHICH IS STILL IN PROCESS OF COMPLETION "MATERIALS: IMAGES - PHOTO PAPER ON DIBOND, FRAME - OAK, GLASS - ACRYLIC "THE PHOTOS ARE ONE OF A KIND, WHICH MAKES THEM ATTRACTIVE COLLECTION PIECES OF ART; CONSIDERING THAT ALL THAT IS SHOWN ON THE PHOTOS IS NO LONGER EXHIBITED ON THE STREETS

Ukraine
I was born in 1981 in Truskavets (Lviv Region, Ukraine). I grew up in Western Ukraine, and currently live and work in Kyiv. The artist Anatoliy Stepanenko played a big role in my identification as an artist. I have dedicated the past few years to my project “The 300 Spartans” - a contemporary street art moving installation and photography art project, the first of its kind in Ukraine. The installations are photographed at a certain angle, accentuating and playing with spaces of interaction. Some of the issues presented by creative transformation through my project are - global warming, racism, assault, and human trafficking. I work with a total of about 1,000 figures of roosters. A book about the project is currently in working process, to be published soon.
