Swimming daily – year round – in the cool waters of the Irish Sea on the east coast of Ireland, Niall Meehan creates images that put two dimensional form on the amorphic energy of the sea. Each image fixing a moment of the swim in time, as a permanent reminder of how it feels to be alive. The unique point of view of the camera allows the viewer experience the scene as if they were there — not looking at a sea scape, but being in a sea scape. Connecting on an emotional and experiential level with the viewer photographs are as much about the holistic environmental experience as the visuals.
