About The Artwork

'The Harvest Moon and Sunflowers', is an artwork created by non-digital photographic processes and inspired by my late father, Clive-Claude Forster's poem, 'The Harvest Moon and Sunflowers'. The poem is included for you below and the sunflowers are from my daughter's garden; they had expired and were imbued with an unworldly beauty. The Harvest Moon and Sunflowers I saw sunflowers talking in the soft moonlight And to my mind, what I saw, was pure delight. In the radiant aura of that harvest moon, I saw their heads all sway More distinctly than ever you’ll see in the fullest light of day. There’s a certain magical allure lent from the harvest moon; The ripe-rich fields of corn and wheat are everywhere in tune. There’s a rhythm to light’s attraction, alive since time began, All the way back to the dreaming state, before the advent of man. And the harvest moon glows golden, and there the golden grain Whispers in the fields of wheat, “We will all come again. Listen next year’s harvest, for restless voices in the sheaves When life leaps anew in the laughing leaves amidst the old oak trees.” I saw the sunflowers nod their heads to me, as I was passing by, There were silvery-soft and fleecy clouds in that harvest sky. How peacefully entrancing was this golden summer’s night; The moon, its soft enchantment, with everything so right! There is magic to the moonlight; I feel it truly is alive. It has a paragonic personality; I feel goodness will survive. Its promise of beneficence - its iridescent heavenly beams - Reveal a world of night-time splendour, bestirring Elysian dreams. I saw a field of sunflowers all talking to the moon They seemed to be earnestly urging, “Please, oh please, come for us soon, And take us to those faraway lands of your golden true delight For we all feel so free and light within your soft moonlight." How I powerfully wished for my own self the very same promise, too; How I longed for a harvest plane with a new and different view; Fields aflow with sunflowers! Such a heavenly delight; All bathed in the soft and golden light of a harvest moon at night. Clive Claude Forster This work is actually a multi-processed calotype (a calotype is a very old photographic process which I have been experimenting with - and pushing the boundaries of - for more than a decade). Each of my artworks uses a medium that best expresses the subject; emotion, intent, and conceptual premise of the work. The work is finally finished with the giclee process on archival fine art paper and is accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity.

‘Beauty awakens the soul to act’ Dante Alighieri. For many years my art has explored the interconnection between our consumer ideology and fragile ecologies. During this time, I have drawn upon scientific, philosophical, literary research, and early photographic processes as well as traditional art practices to highlight our natural world’s plight, resilience, and beauty. The artworks in each series synergize – often in sculptural form - recycled consumer and natural elements. Threads of metaphoric content connect each series and consider the long-term impact of urban development within those ecosystems. While art pieces often used to lament our consumer-conditioned Western values; for example, the work, 'One Earth, Our Earth', I am now profoundly inspired and driven by our human potential and the rapidly emerging caring and willingness of many, to cooperatively innovate environmental solutions. Thus my work considers, anticipates; dissolves existing boundaries, and celebrates! Kaye E Forster
