The Healer #2 - Limited Edition 1 of 20 Photograph

2 years after my first images for The Healer #1 in 2004, I imagined new images in december 2006. Continuing my fascination for staging models at night, during the hours of our dreams, I really wanted to spontaneously shoot these images, without waiting until I would find a model to visualize my idea. The Winter night was -5°C cold... and I decided to be my own guinea pig for this experiment, relinking to my early works when I used myself as a model in my dark "Thanatographies" photo series from 1993-1997. Near the house of my grandmother who was a superstitious woman, I felt her mystical influence while imagining "The Healer". The position of the body can remind the position of a crucifixion, seen from the back, as the man seems to jump and dive into the white space created by the two lights overexposing the wall, a possible parallel universe opening for a second its access into our world. The unknown parallel universe from which the healer takes his powers from. The nudity of the adult man conveys also the notion of rebirth and a ritual of purification.The art work is mounted on dibond and equipped with a double aluminium bars hanging system on the back.
