The Individual from "A new Society" photography project In the realm of consciousness, what does it truly mean to be awake and aware? 'The Individual' is a thought-provoking photograph that challenges our perceptions of consciousness and reproduction. The conventional notion of consciousness involves being awake and distinguishing it from states of unconsciousness. Yet, it delves deeper. It suggests awareness of the world, an abstract value where one can be awake but oblivious to the external aspects of existence. Further still, it explores being aware of oneself as an actor in the world, a concept rooted in self-awareness, recognising oneself as distinct from others in the vast tapestry of existence. In this photograph, the fetal form grows not within the womb but within the head, defying the conventional separation between gender and reproduction. It presents the idea that new knowledge and consciousness are accessible to all, transcending the boundaries traditionally associated with gender roles. The new individual depicted here transcends their own limitations, ascending to a higher plane of existence characterised by love, compassion, and profound understanding. They do not react with negative emotions or harbour negative thoughts. There is no division; there is unity. They know. A new consciousness emerges, one capable of recognising its vast potential and dedicated to creating a healthier society—one that fosters peace within oneself, with others, with nature, and with the planet. It aspires to a more harmonious way of life, though it may seem like utopia. 'The Individual' challenges us to contemplate the depths of consciousness, the boundless potential within each of us, and the possibility of a more enlightened and compassionate world.

I am a multidisciplinary artist and documentary photographer based in Italy, operating between Italy and London. With an initial background in Economics and corporate experience in Italy, I transitioned to photography after discovering an old 35mm Praktica on a London street. In London, I completed a certificate in Photographic Professional Practice at St Martin's College of Arts, followed by a full-time course in analogue photography and darkroom printing. Subsequently, I delved into the world of freelance press photography, working as a paparazzo for three years. My artistic focus revolves around the profound trust in human relationships. Since 2013, I've been documenting impactful stories in London, addressing topics like sexuality, gender equality, prejudice, love, abuse, negative thinking, and illness. I explore the depths of individuals through self-discovery, often engaging in conversations with strangers encountered online or on the street. Using photography as a therapeutic medium, I confront myself in the process. Photography becomes a live, performative act, where art materialises in the moment of connecting with another human being. The observer becomes the observed, and in the mirror, the person is reflected. In 2018, I joined Action Hybride, a Paris-based collective of international artists. The collective focuses on organising interviews, films, exhibitions, performances, and talks related to the body, memory, and the human condition. I have exhibited internationally in cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Brindisi, and Taranto.
