ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Elemental collection began in 1996, humans and the environment. Since then, I have been aware that I should think about nature. We have the privilege of enjoying and having the benefits that a healthy environment provides us. The relationship between humans and fauna and flora. The environment is only possible with this symbiotic and harmonious relationship between species. In this location in a lagoon, with access to the sea and formed by freshwater rivers, located in the center of an island city, an important city in our country, we used a fishing boat for our transportation and went to the western end of the lagoon, where there are rocks covered with moss and lichen, typical vegetation of the place. We used colors and accessories from the environment itself, body painting with shades of blue and green, according to the tone of the natural environment. Natural plant accessories that were loose and discarded over time. Elemental, the photo shoot is always a small group of people to better circulate and harmonize with the environment, for an expressive result of beauty, integration and awareness of caring for our world. I use the term Nymph because I believe it best defines the character in the midst of nature, which is present in all my photo shoots in the Elemental Series. Nymph evokes a strong connection with nature and the elements. Nymph is a term that originates from Greek mythology, where nymphs were considered nature deities, associated with rivers, forests and mountains. Nymphs were described as beautiful young women, endowed with great power and influence over the natural elements. Photographed with transparent color film, Fuji Velvia and medium format camera. Digitized in high resolution with the possibility of printing on 315g fine art paper. If you need a special size, you can request it here, and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Artist Statement - Elemental_Marcus Luconi I am a photographer passionate about images produced with the human figure, studio portraits, locations, environments with natural light, mixing of lights, external lights, all light is fundamental and used in my art. Elemental, a photographic project created in 1996, that continues to this day, unites the human and the environment. As a child until I was a teenager, my greatest pleasure was living close to nature, the woods, countryside, rivers, lakes, anyway, living in a small country town, it was possible. I didn’t always respect nature as I do today, I learned that we must take care of what we love and respect, “humankind and the environment”. Produced in the Photographic Set, the work consists of original photography, with transparent color film, without pre-production montages, until 2005. Professional models, chosen by affinity, small team and united by the same ideal. Artistic make-up, professional specialized in characterization with body painting and props from the environment itself. Photographed with natural light and occasionally using a flashlight to highlight important highlights. From 2005 onwards, original photographs with digital back and digital cameras, with the same minimalist technique of number of people involved on the set. Elemental is a contemporary project. My art is based on original and creative photographic techniques. The forms found in nature, such as Symbiosis, Mimicry and Camouflage, were used as image references, valuing respect between species. Man cannot take over all forms of life, he must respect and collaborate so that Nature follows his path, Flora, Fauna and Humanity. The Human Being and the Environment. Respect between species.
