About The Artwork
>The Princess and the Pea< is a homage to Hans Christian Andeson's fairy tale which bears the same title. The real princess doesn't withdraw from the 'princess' pattern, as sometimes ourselves too cannot withdraw from certain patterns. The patterns which society has imposed on us, with the purpose to make us feel the need to be perfect and socially accepted. But forgetting that there is no such thing as perfection we often suffer and become more alienated from each other while striving for its achievement.

Jelena Kostic was born in 1985 in Belgrade, Serbia. She did a master's degree in photography in 2009 from the University of Arts in the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. In 2017 she did a second-degree master's in photography with a specialization in new technologies at the Academy of Fine Arts the Brera. Jelena photographed for Elle magazine from the 2009. Until the 2014. Her photo "The princess and the Pea" - was nominated as one of the top ten best fashion photographs in the amateur category at the Sony World Photography Awards in Cane, France 2010. She has participated in group exhibitions in Serbia, Greece, The UK, France, Italy, etc. Her photographs have been published in Italian Vogue, Elle Serbia, Elle Decor Serbia, Professional Photographer, Bazar and many others. Her photographs are in many private art collections worldwide.
