This work is inspired by society, the way we are brought up, conditioned, educated before going to make our way in the world. Like the slates we are made in nature pure and clean, though this upbringing we are shaped and polished, our perception and identity influenced by values, attitudes and lifestyles surrounding us that we become different (while of course of the same essence).
We all are looking to 'Live' and 'Be' - we have our ambitions and dreams, how many though stay with the same and achieve exactly that ? I didn't. The point of the series 'The Sea of Broken Dreams' is two fold - firstly as a reflective tool to help focus, reaffirm belief and identity. The second is a message for humility, self acceptance, and love, in that while changing, and regardless of the situation you are still whole in a position no matter how turbulent and dark it might seem to be, rest assured that there are others far less fortunate than you are who would love to be part of the sea that can still dream.
As the sea comes in cycles - peaks, troughs and is influence by events, light, dark, shadows, intensity and calm - just like life. The good times will return and every slate will find its place.
