ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I've been working on this project since I came to the US five years ago. I wrote a poem about my early emotional loss, and then the images began to emerge. My parents died when I was 16, and on the other hand, my son went to pursue his dreams when he was 18. For fourteen years now, we have been on different continents. The phone connects me with him, and I wanted to involve my parents virtually like in a conference call. The photos I took were to show them something I liked, was excited about, or reminded me of them. The photos' format is square because this shape tends to stop the movement, seal the speed at a standstill, limit the experience, and take me out of the deep emotionality that sometimes threatens to suck me.
