36x69 Mixed Media • 3D • Motion Activated Sound Photographs “Iterations”, a repurposed group of mixed media photographs with a motion activated sound bite, began as an homage to the everyday person who either has to dress in a uniform or dresses for a particular occasion or who just enjoys dressing the way they feel on any particular day. What we wear is a never-ending cycle of changes. No matter what we wear for work or play it changes and evolves from one moment to the next. “Iterations”, became another type of evolution from photographs that were pure documents to photographs that are documents with a slight twist that have elements of whimsy and humor. It’s like your second grade teacher who gave you one crayon, lets say yellow, and you discover by putting a heavy, black line around it you enhance the color. Maybe not a great metaphor, but that’s what happened with the work I call “Iterations”. It was simply the urge to change, alter, construct, deconstruct, add, subtract, and move, the elements that make up the visual importance of a portrait to make it come alive, make it visually resonate a little bit more. A quest that demands that a viewer stop, look, and listen, and lastly, reflect about what they are seeing. JD 2020
