About The Artwork

This piece is from the series The bridge gathers (as a passage that crosses), and is a personal exploration into the feeling of being at ease within New Zealand as a migrant and yet at the same time slightly separated from it. By positioning the performative gesture in quintessential representative New Zealand landscapes, the country of which the artist has emigrated to, this body of work draws upon the idea of ‘outsider’, or ‘other’, accentuating the apparent contradictions between and questioning the concept of home and foreign. This piece was shot on medium format positive film using a fully manual Hasselblad camera and pneumatic cable release. Edition 1 of 3 + 1 AP. Framed archival pigment print on Ilford photographic paper. All works come with a signed certificate of authenticity and a edition number.
