Diego Orlando is a fine art photographer from San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain. He received his Master's degree in creative photography from the University of Catalonia and has since established himself as a leading figure in the art world. Diego's artistic focus is to find light in a world of shadows through the use of dispersed and disturbing aesthetics. His work is heavily influenced by the study of classics, the fascination for baroque perfection and the chiaroscuro of the Italian and Spanish schools of the golden century. In his photography, he aims to capture a balance of poetry, magic and beauty in the quasi-dreamlike characters and situations. He also incorporates themes of freedom, religion, diversity, faith and love wrapped in allegories and metaphors for the viewer to interpret. Diego prioritizes the use of traditional photographic processes and post-production to achieve a higher level of artistic quality in each image. His photographic series are meticulously crafted over a period of years, and each image is treated as a unique, limited edition piece. Among the awards he has received, stand out the International Photography Awards™ in 2018 and 2020 in the categories of Fine Art and Books respectively. In addition, he won Honorable Mention in Fine Art - Professional Category in 2020, and was Nominee in Fine Art and Portrait - Professional Category in 2021, Also was Official Selection in Fine Art, Portrait - Professional Category in 2022. His works have been recognized by the Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA) in 2021 and have been chosen by VOGUE - PhotoVogue Italia in November, 8 and January, 16 as Pic of the Day & Best of PhotoVogue. In addition, Diego has also been officially selected on various occasions in the Tokio International Foto Awards™ (TIFA) and in 2022 he received Honorable Mention in Fine Art, Other - Professional Category. Diego has participated in various international exhibitions such as the London Art BIENNALE in 2021 and 2023, the 2BIENALBLACK in Brazil in 2022, the Manchester 2020 VR Exhibition in the United Kingdom in 2021 and the LOOSENART in Millepiani, Italy in 2020. He has also been exhibited at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art in 2019 and The Littel Project in 2016. Winning these awards in Latin America is particularly valuable for Diego, as it recognizes his work as being of high artistic quality and places him among the best photographers in the region.
