About The Artwork

Modern-day smartphone and tablet apps have been an absolute revolution for photography, opening the art of experimental transformation to everyone, in my case, spontaneous events in nature and my family give me the inspiration to convert my mental projections into something visible to the eyes and imagination. Most of the time I shoot my pics with an iPhone 6S plus, and I do my photo manipulation on the iPad. All mostly concentrated on blending landscape backgrounds, I love to create painterly effects.

Erika Carrillo Brothers - Mexican artist currently residing in the USA, Bachelor of Communication, Information Sciences and fond of painting for more than 22 years. Her interest in iPhoneography, art of creating photos and art with an iPhone, began in 2011 and quickly became her passion. She began to investigate the different options on how to transform and alter her photographs from a mobile device using texture elements and different applications to create images that reflected her imagination and ideas. Modern applications have been an absolute revolution in photography, opening the opportunity for all of us to be able to create art from a mobile device. Nature and family have been her main sources of inspiration and ideations. Erika emphasizes “… in general my style does not follow a particular format or function. I use the applications that come to mind at the time and experiment repeatedly until I achieve a particular view of the art piece. Interestingly, my method came from experimenting with apps when my iPhone adventure began. At the same time, as my experimentation evolved so did my technique and ability to transform and integrated new art concepts and blends”. Erika's work has been featured in various international exhibitions and publications including showcases around the USA and Europe. Her works have become part of book covers with prominent publishers and writers, such as the famous Mexican writer Angeles Mastretta, James Patterson of the Alex Cross Thriller series, and the Jane Austen Society with Natalie Janner. She has earned several First Place Awards and Honorable Mentions in Mobile Photography's most prestigious photography contests, IPPAWARDS - MPA, MDAC Mobile Digital Art and Creativity Online, just to name a few.
