This bird’s-eye view captures a pulsing river of pedestrian traffic surging through the expansive zebra crosswalk below. Stripped in high contrast monochrome, the photo transforms individuals into graphic shapes against asphalt, swarming en masse like particles to form a larger organism. Despite the overhead perspective rendering people nearly unidentifiable, their composite movement still emits an energetic rhythm. From this height their density and directionality takes precedence over identity, their pacing dictated by traffic signals. Yet, even colonized into ants, glints of individualistic quirks resist: a dot frozen mid-stride,a cyclist passing through, and another lingering longer than the uniform mass flowing around them.
