Urban Portraits: I take photographs of outdoor advertisements, many that have been altered in some way either by the installer’s mistakes, graffiti artists, the wind and weather, etc. The image of the ad is then physically manipulated, (through wrinkling, crushing, tearing, cutting torquing, etc.) resulting in a three dimensional image that is adhered to an archival backboard and trimmed with a durable edging strip. Backboard is 1/2" thick and can be hung as is or framed in a shadow box, either open or under glass.

He has created similar commissions for Miami, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Seattle, Los Angeles, and many other American cities. All-totaled he has executed over 120 site-specific public art works throughout North America. Photography: Having worked “in the streets” as a sculptor, it was a natural step in the (early) 1990’s for LeFevre to begin a parallel career as a urban photographer. His most important series of photographs deals with the role of figurative advertising in the urban landscape.
