About The Artwork

This is a series of limited edition photographs which I call: "Moments Unseen".  These photos are composites containing either a figure or animal or both within a landscape.  These are pictures of moments that may have been missed by the casual observer, or accidentally captured by a passing photographer. I am drawn to the landscape, especially industrial landscapes, but have always felt something was missing. In this series, I am supplying the missing element through incorporating a separate image that I can imagine might exist. All images are printed with the archival inks and 100% cotton rag paper leaving a 1 inch boarder around the image. Prints are signed and numbered on the back. A total of 16 prints of each image will be produced, 9 images of the smaller sizes (20 x 30) and 6 images of the larger size (28 x 42) plus 1 artist proof. Also comes with signed & numbered certificate of authenticity. More info at jeffchasestudio.com

Jeff Chase has been an artist representative for over twenty years as gallery owner and art dealer. Born in 1958 in New Hampshire, he began his artistic endeavors at the University of Connecticut where he studied photography. Chase’s talent and passion for art has been passed on by previous generations, as his mother and grandmother were both painters. Since his first Brownie Camera at the age of 6, he has been enthralled with photography. He set up a darkroom at the age of 12 and continued his photographic journey. Currently, he is working on a series of photographs titled "Moments Unseen" which are photomontages blending mostly industrial landscapes with figures and animals. Through these photos Jeff is exploring a world that is either imagined or something that is missed by the casual viewer. Jeff is also a painter, he paints what he sees around him, however, all of his paintings are done from memories and emotion derived from his experiences. “ I want my paintings to be interpretive and express something felt and not seen. I am not satisfied with simply replicating a landscape, figure, or still life. I must bring a new perspective that can be passed on to the viewer.” Although Jeff's paintings and photographs seem to be at opposite ends of the artistic spectrum, both challenge the viewer to bring their own emotions and interpretations to the scene.
