As an 8-year-old girl, Marijon Walter was given a camera by her father. It was a simple Kodak pocket camera and love at first sight. This is where her passion for photography began. She realised that she could capture her fascination for her surroundings and thus share it with others. She expanded her knowledge years later by studying and experimenting in many ways. In the meantime, she has switched to the Fuji XT-30. Marijon Walter is a photographer living in Germany who specialises in street photography. She loves observing people and capturing their stories with her camera. She finds her inspiration especially in large, very urban cities. The combination of people and architecture exerts a delightful contrast on her. Light plays a big role for her. Her need is to convey the beautiful and unique aspects of life around her through her photos and to illuminate their viewers with them. Her photos are characterised by aesthetics, a clear visual language and often an unusual perspective. Sometimes, however, it is the exaggerated and disorderly scenes that magically attract her. Here, Martin Parr, one of Britain‘s best-known photographers, is a role model for her. She also gets her inspiration from photographers like Henry Cartier Bresson, Joel Meyerowitz, Saul Leiter and Vivian Maier. Her photos are mostly created out of the moment. She often shoots from the hip in order to give her subject as much privacy as possible despite the closeness. In this way, the people retain their naturalness and thus the desired authenticity and individuality. She prefers to photograph in black and white.
