CAREER NARRATIVE - HAYDEE YORDAN I am a photography artist doing abstract expressionist artwork. I am drawn to discovering the occult, the ephemeral details that coexist in all landscape and we so often miss. I was born and educated in Puerto Rico; have travelled widely and lived in Italy and England while doing academic work. I studied and work as a Montessori teacher for some years and for the last 16 years a I have devoted myself to developing my "foto arte" endeavors as an artist. I consider my work to be unconventional and I strive to express my awe and fascination with nature in my photos. I attended University of Puerto Rico (BA, magna cum laude), Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (Masters courses) and then moved to Italy to study Montessori Elementary education. She studied photography at UPR, Liga de Arte de PR, NYU summer course, and has been very active attending photography workshops in Iceland, Yellowstone and Maine. I have exhibited in four International Photography BIENNIALS in Puerto Rico, Berlin, Germany and Malaga, Spain. My, artwork is in several private collections in Spain, United States and P.R.PR and in the United States. I have also received awards and recognitions from prestigious organization like Lenswork, Spotlight magazine, The Hand magazine, Circle Foundation for the Arts, Grand Prix de la Decouverte in Paris, France ,IPA, International Photography Awards in NY (Lucie Foundation). Has exhibited in several galleries in Puerto Rico: Pamil Fine Arts, Casa Escuté Museum, and twice at Comisión Estatal de Elecciones in San Juan. The 2016 year has been particularly active in exhibitions in galleries and museums as a result of her membership in the AAPPR "Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Puerto Rico". My photo book and literary project on gender, "Borrando Géneros" / "Erasing Gender" was published by Palabra Portico Editores in 2015, and was very active presenting the photo book in Museums, Universities and book stores. In late 2016, 13 of her artworks were published to illustrate Luis A. Polanco's literary book titled "Rastros de Sombra en la Arena" and received an important Award from organization of Latino Literature. My artwork was also published in "Arte Latinoamericano" magazine and curated by well known spanish Art Prof. Laura Bravo. Have also been published by Black and White photography magazine and National Geographic Traveller magazine.
