Photography: Digital on Paper, Canvas.
I took the foundation photo in an arboretum. Although the bench was empty and weathered from the elements - I had faith that it would be lovingly filled soon.
Each photo I take is cropped and toned for a foundation that I think will allow many versions of it to be created from it. Naturally, the original is saved in case I decide to crop and tone a different way for an altogether different approach.
Upon determining a base look, I then experiment with 20 to 60 versions of it - changing colors, applying filters, embedding additional images, or transforming them from a recognizable photograph to several painting styles. Because digital art provides so much flexibility, I can better serve a client who may like a certain image . . . but would love it, if it were different in a specific way.
