As an artist/sculptor having grown up in the mountains of County Sligo in Ireland I have always been intrigued by the folkloric tales my grandmother would tell me. Some years ago in my new home in North Carolina I began to reminisce on my childhood days which in turn prompted me to sculpt the several characters in wood and cement, who played a folkloric role in the landscapes of Ireland.
The Wicked Witch is one of my favourites. After sculpting her face in cement I found by shooting her with black and white photography. How it brings life and expression to her charming face.
As an artist/sculptor I have been accused of being a bit of a chameleon, with my subject matter and style running the gamut from Contemporary/Abstract to Classical Renaissance. I am a deep rooted visionary that is talented in all mediums which include wood, bronze, resins, cements, glass and photography. I like to feel that I am in a constant state of discovery, savoring the excitement of exploration and experimentation. My passion is to inspire, create, capture and produce art that stirs the emotion and have a positive impact on the viewer.
