Windows #4 is a part of "Windows" Collection, which consists of 12 images. It was captured on 35mm black and white negative film, in Belgrade (Serbia, 2004). This abstract work is an homage to perception and personal perspective. With this photographic image, I demonstrate how something as plain and boring as a thick metal fence turns into something interesting when you open to your widest aperture. I shot this image using Nikon FM2 and at 1.2f on a 50mm lens. I find it fascinating how depth of field and perspective play always such an important role as the subject itself. There is something so magical about shallow depth of field and how it separates the subject and takes it out of its context, allowing the viewer to perceptive it without the loud distracting “noise” of everything else surrounding the main focus of the image - I love this about photography. I hope that it will broaden the viewers understanding of the relation between perception and perspective, while at the same time leaving space for individual interpretation. It is up to the viewers to see what they see in this image, but also raise the question why they see what they see.
