About The Artwork

Description: Pavel Prosyanov (b. 1958) Vintage photo Gelatin silver print " WINTER FISHING IN ASTRAKHAN • 1985 " The city of Astrakhan is in the delta of the Volga River. For many centuries, this city is known for the fact that here at any time of the year, wherever there is water, people fish. Some people go to catch on nature (away from people), while others go fishing in the center of the city, and they do not regret it at all. The photo was printed for archival storage (very good fixation, and a prolonged final rinse in running water) A photo print with pale gray margins around the perimeter was made on a single sheet of photographic paper using special masks. This photo looks better in the original than in the listing , nice texture of matte paper Grainy image in the sky looks like an artistic device • Printed in Darkroom in 1986 on the matte paper (cardboard) • When printing used special masks (frames) • Signed in pencil on the back of the print • The image is in good condition (no damage) • The image was retouched by the author (mechanical retouch), and the print began to have a finished look. • Print size: 11"x15,3 "x ( 28x39 cm) • Image Size: 6, 6" x 13 " ( 17x33 cm) • Limited edition: 3/12

I started taking photographs and printing photographs in a dark room as a boy since 1970. In early 1979, I was already working as a professional photographer, and parallel, I got carried away with creative photography, I photographed for myself what I like. Most often it is an old town, old houses, details of old architecture, a person in an urban environment, nature. For me, photography is, first of all, Art photography, i.e. photography as an independent work of art. A good photo for me falls into two categories, it is a photo with a meaning, or with a mood. Yes, a photograph without any meaning, but which conveys the mood to us. And great luck when these two qualities are present in one work.
