About The Artwork

This is seventh photo of my series Year of color. I`m creating 365 pieces that resemble one year in Finnish nature. The colors and mood in my photos change based on current weather and time of year. The 365-piece-project consist of smaller "sub-series" of similar pictures that are taken on same day and in the same lighting. This piece was inspired by the blue light on the snow in evening light. I will be adding other pieces as soon as I can.Today (8.1) was the 29th day of the project. I want to create a sensation of movement in my pictures. I want to present the landscape as a entity of color, shapes and mood instead of single cropped view. I use long exposures and intended camera movement to achieve these effects. Limited edition giclée-prints are printed by Dialab- Hahnemühle Certified Studio in Helsinki, using 11 pigment colors. This technique allows these prints to remain in perfect condition up to 200 years and ensures the quality of colors. Limited edition prints come hand signed and numbered with certificate of authenticity included. Open edition prints (unsigned) are available under "Prints" tab.

Jani Jukonen is a 22-year old Finnish fine art photographer and architecture student, creating abstract landscapes. He was born in Oitti, Finland. He lived his childhood on the countryside, moving to the capital Helsinki as a 16-year-old for art studies. He got in Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Visual Arts where he studied history of art, color theories, painting and drawing but focused in photography, studying both traditional film and digital techniques, as well as Photoshop. He graduated in June 2017. In August 2017 Jani moved to Tampere and started his architecture studies in Tampere University of Technology. Jani has developed his style during the past couple of years and draws inspiration from nature's colors and his current surroundings. He creates abstract minimal landscapes with natural colors, and tries to keep the amount of after editing to minimum. He wants to keep the colors as natural as possible and to convey the mood and colors to the viewer as he experienced it. His main idea behind his work is to present the landscape as a entity of colors, shapes and mood instead of one sharp and cropped view. He wants to create a sensation of movement to the spectator. He uses long exposures and intended camera movement to achieve these effects. He is currently working on a year-long project, consisting of 365 individual pieces. Series is titled "Year of color" picturing a year of changes in Finnish landscapes through abstract, photographs.
