About The Artwork

This is an original silver gelatin print (one out of two) from a photographic project about boxing in USA. Then there is two digital Fine Art prints for sale and one Artist Print for my own collection. This eight year old kid training in a boxing gym in Bedford Stuyvesaunt New York. The year was 1993. I was taking classes at International Center of Photography on Manhattan and traveled to Brooklyn for my interest in boxing. This gym was different from the other ones around the city. It was in the street level on Marcus Garvey Blvd, with a doorman named Dave. The gym was worn down and the equipment old school but the fighting spirit, the coaching and the focus was something else. They always told me the main focus was to keep the kids away from the street life in the hood. Famous boxers like Henry `Hot Pepper´ Brent and Riddick Bowe was training at this gym from early age. This photograph of the boy has been published and part 3 art exhibitions in Sweden. The latest in Gelleri Kontrast 2018.
