Artist living in Dublin, Alex Gur moved his focus from over 25 years of photography to abstract paintings, with gestural imagery, attempting to convey his passion for life. He applies geometry in vivid colors, representing the mood and tone of each piece, and allows the painting to guide itself to completion. His subjects and imagery take shape as he goes, and seem to explode onto the canvas in natural colors and lively scenes. He finds his inspiration from nature, mathematics, geometry and his global travels and studies in art museums around the world. He loves Sienna school of painting, Wassily Kandinsky's and Mark Rothko's art philosophy. In his words, the main goal as an artist is “to express the inner beauty, fervor of spirit, and spiritual desire inner necessity of the Earth's wonder, [and share] my joy of wandering in the imagery of it with you!” His passion outside of art is Qigong and meditation and he divides his time between those disciplines. Alex's work featured and sold by Saatchi art gallery and appreciated by private art collectors in USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Greece, Chezh Republic, Russia and Georgia.
