ABOUT THE ARTWORK

PURITY OF DESIRE from the series JOIN THE UNKNOWN 2020. The year in which our lives have come to be seen in a different light. What does it do to me when part of my freedom is restricted. When the view of perspective seems to be missing. How do I deal with that, what do I look for and where do I find comfort? This search for dealing with a new world view intrigues and inspires me. This search and observations ask me to search for the purity of my desires, for how I want to live and how I can shape my own freedom. I find that by connecting with the not-knowing, I am again able to move towards and move in my desires, in order to experience a form of inner freedom. With the series Join the Unknown I want to show that a different worldview can also offer hope, a new perspective and inner freedom. Printed on Hahnemuehle paper, mounted on dibond behind matte antireflex acrylic glass and framed in a black floater frame, ready to hang. Limited edition (5) signed, numbered, comes with certificate of authenticity.

Annemarie Hoogwoud (1962), born and raised in Amsterdam, lives and works in the north of the country, in Friesland. She is 15 years old when her neighbour takes her into his world of landscape photography. Since then, the camera has not left her life. After completing the professional photography course at the Dutch Fotovakschool in Apeldoorn in the late 1990s, she follows various in-depth courses in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. 'by taking the time you'll see more and look differently' We live in a rushed, hectic, restless and tough world. A world that is tilting. A world that is clearly in transformation. Everything seems to be happening at a fast pace. As a result taking the time for something shifts far into the background. It is a pace that challenges me to deal with, to continue to follow my own path and rhythm and to slow down, because it is necessary. In my work I investigate how I can contribute to this transforming world, A world that currently offers no guidance and longs for a spot on the horizon. In my images you will find simplicity, layering and wonder. With the questions and emotions they evoke, I want to create a connection with and in the world. After all, connection leads to more awareness and in my opinion that is what this world needs right now. Beauty and taking the time are the themes in my work, often inspired by poetry, philosophy and literature. The way a painter uses brush and paint, I paint with the landscape and my camera to create my, mostly abstract, images.
