#9 Print - Limited Edition of 1

On a single rigid plate, ink was applied in layers then pressed on to the paper through printing press. This process was repeated to create multiple body of work as a series ultimately to express ‘self’. The production process puts the artist in and out of control repeatedly. When creating a base plate, choosing the paper, placing the plate on the paper, and choosing the mixture of color, the artist is in control. However, due to the residue of ink on the plate from the previous process, the artist is no longer in control of the outcome. The final product is always a mixture between artist’s intentions and inadvertent residues of past. This process of losing and gaining control is similar to the struggles of finding an identity as an artist and an individual. As ‘self’ is a collective layer of past events, this body of artwork attempts to capture each moment of development, overlapping, and essence of individual and as an artist.
